Biography

Dr. Chad Rossitter was born in Keithville, Louisiana. Early on, he pursued a career in the medical field, working as an Emergency Room Technician while attending Northwestern State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree of Science in Nursing.  He earned his Medical Degree from the University of Sint Eustatius while doing his clinicals at Louisiana State University-UMC in Lafayette, La.  After graduation, Dr. Rossitter went on to complete his Internal Medicine Residency at Louisiana State University-UMC. During his residency training at LSU, he received the prestigious award of, INTERN of the YEAR, and later he was selected to serve as the Chief Resident of the Internal Medicine Program at LSU. After graduation from LSU, he then went to do a fellowship at Houston Methodist Hospital, where he specialized in Nephrology and Interventional Nephrology. He was selected to the Chief Fellow position and was the first Nephrologist to graduate from Houston Methodist trained in Interventional Nephrology.

 

After returning from his Nephrology Fellowship at Houston Methodist, Dr. Rossitter resettled in the Lafayette-Opelousas area working as a Nephrologist/Interventional Nephrologist.  He went on to eventually open his own practice, Nephrology Center of Excellence, and has provided care to the underserved areas all over the state of Louisiana, with his primary office being located in Opelousas, La. Over the years he has had many administrative roles, including being Medical Director for several Hemodialysis Centers, The Director of a Chronic Kidney disease program, and keeps an active role in the community by participating in the local hospital board Committees. In addition, Dr. Rossitter started a nonprofit organization named Kidney Strong, which he hopes will be nationwide providing resources to kidney disease patients including options for Dialysis, Kidney transplant and treatments that are not readily available.

 

Dr. Rossitter is Internal Medicine Board certified as well as Nephrology Board Certified and is one of the few Interventional Nephrologists in Louisiana. He has a special interest in Interventional Nephrology, doing research and development to help shape the future and provide cutting edge care/treatment options that includes a comprehensive approach for his kidney disease patients to improve their outcomes. He enjoys a challenge, is optimistic, and always looking towards the future and what’s NEXT.
